hi.from this side of the pond.this is my first post, and suspect it wont be my last.i have a koi in my pond that is very fat.its been like this for two years.in winter it lays on or near the bottom and looks like its dead.but come the warmer weather.it perks up.and swims around and feeds with the rest of the fish.it doesn't seem to have anything else wrong with it .no scales sticking out,no scale loss,no fin rot.would appreciate any advice....pedro.

Pedro,
Any chance for a picture? You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. :)

You also mention cold verses warm. Where are you located?

I just found out that many of my kin folks are from Yourkshire England. I'm doing a trace on them and am at 1529 currently. Don't know how fat they were or not? But I'm getting down to it. Mike

So you think your Koi is fat...can you describe "fat". Is it a female with eggs? Many koi will hover on the bottom during cold winter months.
How big is the pond? How many other fish? Any others with a problem?
I could ask a few dozen other questions, but....

Is it fat on one side or both? Is it fat down or sideways? has it ever spawned or perhaps egg bound. Is the pond 2 foot deep? Is it hard or soft when you squeeze?
